Finding the history of your house

I do hope some of you read this. Although it's not essentially part of renovating a house, part of the real joy of having a Queenslander is it's sense of history.

I discovered this old photo when renovating my house. It's of the first stump cap being put in place by the son of the builder. It was in Oct 1923, and behind the builder and his son, many locals have gathered to cheer.

I also found a lovely poem someone had written about the tender and building process of building the house which was once the manse to the local church. It's called "our lucky 13" and is all about how the number 13 was significant in the build. Co-incidently we started our build in 2013 and finished on the 13th Feb!
